Monthly Social – Famine and Emergency Crises

April 18 at 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

A SOCIAL MEETUP

It’s that Tuesday again! Come along to the pub to socialise with a whole bunch of friendly welcoming and altruistic people. And in between the meandering conversations, gleeful smiles and poor puns there will be some serious discussions on how we should respond to emergency crises, with questions such as:

WHAT are the most effective charities and volunteering opportunities for responding to these emergency crises.

HOW do we compare these problems with the long term suffering from global poverty and malaria?

HOW do we talk about these emotional issues in a way that is productive and cooperative rather than divisive?

For more background on these, here are some related links:

EVERYONE WELCOME – ESPECIALLY NEWCOMERS

Whether you’ve only just heard of Effective Altruism and are wondering ‘what’s this here all about?’ or you’ve known about it for a while – this social will be friendly and fun for anyone.

If you have been before and found the conversations interesting and valuable then please bring along a friend who you think might want to learn and discuss how best to make the world a better place.
